Born and raised in the UK, to Pakistani parents, Shirin now lives in Illinois, where she has raised six children— three human and three feline. Shirin has been writing stories since she became a mother, as she wanted her children to see themselves represented in books. Shirin has authored many books for children, including LAILA AND THE SANDS OF TIME (Clear Fork 2019), ZAHRA'S BLESSING (Barefoot Books 2022), and THE MOON FROM DEHRADUN (Atheneum, 2022). She has co-authored the Clear Fork interfaith series with Callie Lovvorn and Melissa Stoller, PLANTING FRIENDSHIP: PEACE, SALAAM, SHALOM and also, BUILDING BRIDGES: PEACE, SALAAM, SHALOM. Now an empty nester, Shirin spends her days creating stories that bring more empathy and kindness into the world.
